본회퍼의 아침기도

 

1943년 11월 테겔 형무소에서 동료 수인들을 위하여 쓴 아침 기도문 중에서 일부분을 앞부분(1-2연)은 정현숙 번역을 인용하였고 뒷 부분은 주인돈신부가 번역하였습니다.

 

 

이른 아침 주님께 기도합니다.

저 혼자 힘으로는 할 수 없으니

제가 기도할 수 있도록 도우시고 흩어진 생각을 모아 주소서.

 

제 속에는 어둠이 있으나 주님 곁에는 빛이 있습니다.

저는 고독하나 주님은 저를 버리지 않으십니다.

저는 무력하나 주님께는 도움이 있습니다.

저는 불안하나 주님께는 평화가 있습니다.

저는 견딜 수 없이 괴로우나 주님께는 인내가 있습니다.

저는 주님의 길을 알지 못하나 주님은 저의 길을 아십니다.

 

하늘에 계신 아버지,

밤 중에 쉬게 하셨으니 당신께 찬미와 감사를 드리나이다.

새 날을 주셨으니 당신께 찬미와 감사를 드리나이다.

나의 지난 날의 삶 속에 함께 하신 당신의 모든 선하심과

신실하심에 대하여

당신께 찬미와 감사를 드리나이다.

 

당신께서는 저에게 많은 축복을 주셨나이다:

제가 지금 져야 할 이 무거운 짐 역시 주께서 주신 것으로 받아들이게 하시고

제가 감당할 수 있는 짐을 주실 줄로 압니다.

당신의 자녀들에게는 모든 것이 협력하여 선을 이르게 하십니다.

 

 

 

 

 

Morning Prayer For Fellow-Prisoners

 

O God, early in the morning I cry to you.

Help me to pray

And to concentrate my thoughts on you;

I cannot do this alone.

 

In me there is darkness,

But with you there is light;

I am lonely, but you do not leave me;

 

I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help;

I am restless, but with you there is peace.

In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;

I do not understand your ways,

But you know the way for me.

 

O Heavenly Father,

I praise and thank you

For rest in the night;

I praise and thank you for this new day;

I praise and thank you for all your goodness

and faithfulness throughout my life.

 

You have granted me many blessings;

Now let me also accept what is hard from your hand.

You will lay on me no more than I can bear.

You make all things work together for good for your children.
